Thanksgiving quotes we can apply to our lives every day

November 17, 2023

Quotes are some of my favorite things. Some of them I read or hear and they go in one ear and out the other. Then there are some that really resonate with me and help change my perspective about life. They are the ones I put to memory and are my “go to’s” when I need motivation, inspiration, or a change in outlook. With Thanksgiving around the corner, I wanted to share some quotes about gratitude, as well as other insightful quotes about living life to the fullest and being more appreciative for all that we have, even when the we are having a particularly tough time. I hope you find one or more here that resonate with you.

When asked if my cup is half-full or half-empty my only response is that I am thankful I have a cup.
~ Sam Lefkowitz ~

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year because it reminds us to give thanks and to count our blessings. Suddenly, so many things become so little when we realize how blessed and lucky we are.
~ Joyce Giraud ~

Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.

~ Ralph Marston ~

Let go of what has happened. Let go of what may come. Let go of what is happening now. Don’t try to figure anything out. Don’t try to make anything happen. Relax, right now, and rest.

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.

Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for what I do have. The Jim Davis quote about vegetables gave me a chuckle!

Great post, thanks Tom! You have the gift of encouragement, thank you for sharing it! Happy Thanksgiving!

The Bible says, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) 💜

  3. Lynne w Yurgel says:

Tom: You always seem to write something on a time when I really need it. My neck has been so painful all day today, rendering me pretty useless and I was moaning and not remembering all the good things in my life. as usual Thank you for the reminder. Happy Thanksgiving

I am so sorry Lynne. I can relate, as I have had a bad back for 4 months after an injury in July with no real direction yet what I can do to help it. Today for me was a tough one als0 🙁

  4. Ruth says:

I claim Sam Lefkowitz’s, “I have a cup!” I am Grateful for this perspective. I utilize the 1/2 full…1/2 empty analogy regularly..have done so for years. I never thought of this quote in this way…only as a constant Flux over the years, due to life challenges. Having this new thought process will help provide me with more of a balance of consistency and stability in my thinking and feeling…as does your favorite also, Tom, of “Let It Go!” I, as well as many, many others, Tom, are Grateful for You!!

    • Tom Seaman says:

That cup quote is a great one. I like to say, I think the cup is the wrong size..lol. Things that make you go hmmmmm….. Happy Thanksgiving Ruth!
